This tactic can cause rifts in the family and upset friends but there is another way. If you make your occasion child friendly the kids will have a great time and add to the enjoyment of the day. Why Are Bridesmaids Dresses so Expensive?

angel-forever-elpb1208

With the party dresses on the high street and online available at such reasonable prices bridal shops are often asked why their bridesmaids dresses are so expensive. To the consumer a £240 dress probably seems rather pricey when compared to the clothes in Coast or Monsoon but there are good reasons for the higher costs. No shop wants to offer over priced goods as it will affect their ability to sell them but bridal shops are faced with some unique demands and dealing with them can be costly. Continue reading

Personalise Your Party

Everyone loves a good party, and throwing a bash for a birthday, wedding or other special occasion gives the opportunity for friends and family to come together and celebrate. However we’re all leading increasingly busy lives, and it can seem a bit like Groundhog Day when you go to several children’s birthday parties in a row as they use the same venues, the same cake supplier and the same decorations. Having a more personalised party doesn’t have to be more expensive, it just means you have to put a little more time and organisation into sourcing your supplies. Continue reading

Space Saving in a Nursery

Babies are only little so they can’t take up that much space, right? Well although your new little person might be only tiny, what nobody warns you is that the amount of stuff you need to look after them is considerable. The High Cost of a Wedding

mori-lee-1957-2 (318x450)

I constantly marvel at the sheer amount of money that some people spend on their weddings, particularly as many brides don’t really appear able to afford it. At my bridal shop I am constantly seeing people who wish to pay in instalments and who are looking for bargains because the expense is getting out of hand. Some brides arrive with baby carriers having just had a child so I can’t begin to imagine how they are funding a wedding and the cost of a new baby at the same time. It makes me wonder what these girls are thinking of even though my business depends on them spending their cash! Continue reading

The Complications of Sizing

Sizing can be one of the most confusing aspects of finding your bridal gown and bridesmaids’ dresses. If you are used to the fact that you wear a certain size in high street clothes it can be very disconcerting to find you are a totally different size in bridal wear and usually it is a larger size! This can lead to some brides wondering if the staff at their bridal shop have measured them correctly or if a dress has been labelled in error. If this has happened to you be assured that you are not alone and the shop have probably got it right! Continue reading

There was a time when the vast majority of people who got married were still living with their parents and so their wedding presents formed part of the process of setting up their first home. All the more incredible, then, that a new style of photography has emerged from America called “Trash the Dress” or “Rock the Frock”. Here brides are pictured wearing their finery but in unusual locations where the dress is likely to get ruined or is actually deliberately destroyed. Continue reading
