I have been working in the bridal industry for over 8 years and I still can’t give you a definitive answer to that question! You would think that if a collection has someone’s name on it that they did indeed design it but the truth is that with many collections the name on the label is just a brand and no such person actually exists. Even when the name is a genuine designer I doubt if they are responsible for the entire collection. Continue reading

Why Have a Tattoo?
I have to admit that I come at this subject from the point of view of a deep sceptic. I don’t like tattoos and I would never get one. It is my ultimate nightmare to awake from an inebriated night out to find that I have acquired one. I think they are a disfigurement whatever the image concerned may be. Continue reading

Why Bridal Shops May Disappear
High street retailers have been struggling over recent years with many shutting their doors for good. The reasons are simple. People are buying more and more online, shops are selling cheaper and cheaper and the recession has reduced the amount of disposable income people have to spend. With even some of the biggest names running into trouble it is little wonder that independent bridal shops are struggling and they also have some unique issues to contend with. Continue reading

The Complications of Sizing
Sizing can be one of the most confusing aspects of finding your bridal gown and bridesmaids’ dresses. If you are used to the fact that you wear a certain size in high street clothes it can be very disconcerting to find you are a totally different size in bridal wear and usually it is a larger size! This can lead to some brides wondering if the staff at their bridal shop have measured them correctly or if a dress has been labelled in error. If this has happened to you be assured that you are not alone and the shop have probably got it right! Continue reading
Should You Trash Your Dress?
Most brides spend a great deal of time and energy searching for their perfect gown for the big day. The dress is one of the most important aspects of the wedding and is the stuff of dreams for most girls. All the more incredible, then, that a new style of photography has emerged from America called “Trash the Dress” or “Rock the Frock”. Here brides are pictured wearing their finery but in unusual locations where the dress is likely to get ruined or is actually deliberately destroyed. Continue reading
